GRANDSTANDS TICKETS AND CIRCUIT MAPS
VIEWING IN GENERAL
Detailed seating information on all grandstands is set out in the circuit maps below. The seating on all the grandstands for the 2006 South African A1Grand Prix are uncovered – it is therefore highly recommended to prepare yourself, for all weather conditions e.g. sunscreen, umbrellas, hats, etc. Both the Platinum and Gold grandstands offer bigscreen viewing. It is expected that the tickets for the more popular grandstands, like the Pits Straight (Platinum) and First Chicane (Gold) as well as the First Corner Hairpin (Sliver 4) will sell out first for the South African A1 GP. The promoters have also made provision for substantial General Access Areas, which should provide for good value money viewing.
GRANDSTAND TICKETS
Before considering the most appropriate package that best suits your 2006 South African A1GP needs, it is important to consider the location and benefits of the available grandstand and general admission tickets. We suggest that you refer to the attached circuit map, to further assist you in making the best possible choice
GRANDSTAND VIEWING
Because the 2006 South African A1 GP will be run on a temporary street circuit, most of the spectators facilities including the grandstands and toilets, will consist of temporary structures. The seating on all 12 grandstands will be open air e.g. not covered, but it should provide for excellent viewing for the duration of the race weekend. The race promoters will also erect a number of bigscreen TV’s at some of the grandstands and have also provided for a merchandising and festival area.
The circuit offers three Platinum Grandstands (stands 1, 2 & 3) located opposite the Pits Area as well as the start/finish line. These stands should offer excellent views of the build-up to and the start of the race itself, the pit activities of the teams before and during the race, the Pits Straight as well as the Podium celebrations at the end of the race. A bigscreen TV will be located opposite the Grandstand 1 to further enhance your Grand Prix experience.
These three uncovered grandstands are located on the inside of the racing circuit opposite the First Chicane. The chicane should provide the drivers with possible overtaking opportunities as they brake into this section of the circuit. Spectators will be able to see the cars at slower speeds, which could provide for good photographic opportunities.
A bigscreen TV will be located opposite these stands which makes it so much easier for you to keep track of what is happening later on during the race.
Of the five Silver grandstands, Grandstand 4 located on the Hairpin at the end of the Pits Straight should offer the best viewing. The Hairpin should present the racing drivers with the best passing opportunities on the circuit and should offer some unbelievable exciting viewing on the first lap as all the cars try to out brake each other, going into the hairpin. Grandstands 5 and 6 are located just after the second corner and Grandstand 6 at the entrance to the First Chicane. Grandstands 10 & 11 are located opposite each other just before a kink located on the short straight section situated just after the First Chicane.
This uncovered grandstand is located on the outside of the circuit on a tight right-hand corner situated at the end of the Back Straight. The Back Straight should be the fastest straight on the circuit and grandstand 12 should present spectators with some good views of the cars braking heavily for this rather tight corner. This corner will definitely present the racing drivers with some passing opportunities, provided they get their braking points right, which should make for some exciting viewing.
FOOD AND BEVERAGE
The organizers will provide for a selection of food and beverages, at various outlets located all around the circuit.
GENERAL ACCESS
The General Access Areas (general admission areas) should provide for good viewing at selected spots around the circuit and offer great value for money viewing. These areas should bring the spectators really close to the action, and should also provide easy viewing access to disabled spectators. (A special viewing area have however been provided for disabled spectators, which will be located on the outside of the First Chicane). But as always there are no numbered seats and you must be there early to get a good spot, which you stand to loose should you have to visit a toilet or leave to buy food. Don't forget to bring along some fold-up chairs, your braai and umbrellas.
OTHER CIRCUIT FACILITIES
The promoters have provided for a big merchandising and festival area, which will be located on the outside of the circuit in the First Chicane area. A1GP and other team merchandise will be on sale in this merchandising area, while ongoing entertainment will be provided throughout the weekend for spectators and children in the festival area.
